Vanessa has been telling stories for almost 20 years, first as a journalist for newspapers and magazines, and then as a content strategist and copywriter at leading digital agencies in London, where she worked with clients like Google, Facebook, Siemens, Philips, Vue Entertainment, Barclays, Nandos, Arup, Dulux, Bayer and many others.

As a writer and journalist, her work has been published in Australian Home Beautiful, the Daily Telegraph (AU), the Daily Telegraph (UK), Virgin, Jetstar, Qantas, Time Out Sydney, Marie Claire, Brand South Australia, The Adelaide Review and more.


At Slice, Vanessa channels her love for good, honest and compelling storytelling into helping brands and businesses unearth their stories, working with them to create content that achieves business objectives, stands on its own as good journalism and, most importantly, responds to the needs of the real humans who will be using the products and services.

When she's not reading the internet, you'll find Vanessa seeking out good places to swim, reading pretty much everything she can get her hands on, cooking (especially pasta), and planning trips with her husband and son.

Lizzie Annells

Lizzie started her career in traditional marketing, and moved into digital 17 years ago with the RAA (Royal Automobile Association of South Australia).

In 2012, she relocated to London and carved a path in content production for some of London’s leading comms and content agencies, where she managed large teams across projects, overseeing editorial strategy, planning and content development, including creating long and short form copy, video and social content.

She’s managed and produced content projects of every shape and size across both global brands and SMEs, including Dove, Rexona, Philips, AkzoNobel, Bayer Healthcare, the World Health Organisation, and more.

At Slice, Lizzie manages the day-to-day operations of the agency, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and deliver a measurable return on investment.



When she doesn’t have her head in a spreadsheet, you’ll find Lizzie buying gig tickets, hunting for the perfect pet-nat, and becoming a cross-stitch master.

What you can expect when we work together

A dedicated account manager

Our goal is to provide our clients with an exceptional experience. Your account manager will be your single point of contact throughout our working relationship. They’ll be there when you need them, and will manage briefs and requests quickly and promptly. They’ll run planning meetings, come up with proactive ideas, deliver content that nails the brief, report on the success of that content, and iterate and optimise as needed.

Strategic oversight

You’ll have a Slice director (either Vanessa or Lizzie) as your strategic lead and they’ll be deep in the work; pushing the thinking, challenging the team, always in search of the new and constantly asking questions about different, better ways of doing and being. 

Stringent internal reviews

Slice director Vanessa (a former journalist with an eagle eye for spotting errant apostrophes) will review and edit every single piece of copy, content, and design before it’s delivered to you.

Resource and knowledge sharing

We’ll dedicate time in each content planning meeting to keep you updated and informed with what’s happening in the social media and digital marketing world. 

Goal and KPI setting

We’re not interested in creating content for the sake of creating content, so we start every project with clear goal-setting and ambitious but realistic benchmarks that the whole team can get behind. Depending on what you need, we can set you up with Google Analytics, create custom analytic dashboards, run monthly reports and help you understand how your content can be better tracked, distributed and optimised.
