Controversial food opinions

In news that shocks absolutely no one, women over 65 would rather live alone than live with their partners (“I don’t want to take care of anybody. I want to take care of me,” said Nadell, who divorced her second husband two decades ago. “You want to be friends and get together, when I say it’s okay to get together? Fine. But to be in a relationship where I have to answer to somebody else? Been there, done that, don’t want to do it again.")

Free therapy

If you’ve ever wanted to know what goes down at a B&S ball in rural Australia, feast your eyes on this debauchery

Vanessa is absolutely obsessed with watching Gourmet Makes, a Bon Appetit video series in which a pastry chef attempts to recreate beloved childhood junk food like Starbursts, Pop Rocks and Sour Patch Kids. (Tip! If you’re feeling anxious or stressed at all, this makes for fantastic therapy)

Here’s a handy cheat sheet on what to say if you ever find yourself  in conversation with a climate sceptic (You can even choose a response based on the type of argument, ie informed, uninformed, cherry picking, urban myths – GENIUS!!)

This week, Lizzie’s been bingeing on a new podcast from the guys at Gimlet Media called Motherhacker, an old-timey radio drama about the dark web and phone phishing scams. Each ep is a speedy 10-15 long, so perfect for quick bus rides or walks to the corner store

This behind-the-scenes clip from Dirty Dancing is addictive watching (miss us some Patrick Swayze)

Since April 2017, a woman called Rachel Lopez has been taking photos of the ceilings of Mumbai taxis, many of which are decorated with colourful vinyl overlays. As Lopez says in a piece she wrote for PRI, “it’s more fun than the cold, grey inside of an Uber”.

What kind of friend you are, according to your star sign (“You accept your friends’ limitations, Aquarius, which is an incredibly freeing quality in an adulthood friend. The rigours of real-life are exhausting, and it’s so nice to have someone who won’t hate you if you cancel plans at the last minute or wait a week to text back. It’s not that you’re cool with rudeness, but a) you need more space than most, and b) you innately understand that people are all so different. That’s part of the appeal, as far as you’re concerned.”)

Creamy one-pot butternut squash pasta with white beans and kale

If you’ve previously dismissed the idea of Facebook making TV content, this very convincing article about why we should all tune into Sorry For Your Loss, a series about a young widow navigating grief, may just change your mind (and here’s where you can watch it)
